Big, heavy and complex is our normal: turbine blades, locomotives, reactors and bridge sections, handled and stored where barge, rail and road meet.
Project cargo and breakbulk is freight that does not fit a standard container: oversized, overweight or irregular loads such as wind turbine components, industrial machinery and steel structures. At Maasterminal Maastricht we lift pieces up to 120 tons between barge, rail and truck, store them indoors or on the yard, and prepare them for the next leg. Crating, lashing and documentation included. The cost of a breakbulk move is driven by weight, dimensions, lifting complexity and the modalities involved; send us those four specs and we quote a concrete plan.
There's no room for error in this class of cargo. Every piece is too large, too valuable or too complex for standard procedures, so each move starts with a plan: route, permits, lifting points, weather margins. Our team has spent years moving loads that other terminals turn away.
Whether your cargo arrives by road, rail, inland waterway or ocean (via Rotterdam or Antwerp), we coordinate every stage, including crating, storage and the terminal handling in between.
Handling exceptionally heavy cargo takes more than the right equipment. It demands planning, safety protocols and a crew that has done it before, on locomotives, chemical reactors and other out-of-gauge loads that came across this quay.
Wind turbine blades and towers, solar farm installations and large transformers move through the terminal with direct transfer from water to road or rail. Energy projects run on tight site schedules, so we plan just-in-time delivery straight to the construction site.
Turbines, generators, drilling rigs and entire production lines are heavy, sensitive and essential. Each project gets technical preparation: load calculations, shock-resistant packing and a safe transfer to barge or truck.
Bridge sections, prefab concrete parts and heavy steel pipelines need coordinated lifting, route planning and exact site delivery. We handle the lifting, the transport and the final placement, so infrastructure projects stay on schedule.
Secure from start to finish
Machine components get custom protective crating, documented handling and secure storage until the next mode of transport is ready. Once packed, cargo loads directly onto barge, truck or rail: one flow, no extra touches. The same crew also runs container stripping and stuffing for cargo that does fit the box.
